21 year old woman makes £13k a month business from her bedroom

A woman started a handmade jewelery business during lockdown, which now brings in £13,500 per month. Tisha Pruthi, 21, set up a business of making personalized bracelets, necklaces and rings during the lockdown.

She waited five months before receiving a single order—but soon her products, which she makes by hand in her bedroom, were in high demand. Tisha from Wolverhampton, West Midlands finally took off after a two-year hiatus with a company called ‘Chickag’.

She has never paid a single penny in marketing, but she gets up to 600 orders in a month- after her business went viral on TikTok. Now she is living a lifelong dream of one day running a successful jewelry business – one that made £13,500 last month.

But the young entrepreneur is aiming to become a six-figure business—and also plans to grab a full-time job alongside a degree at the university in September. She said: “I had always envisioned myself running a business, so I decided to do it.

“For the first five months, I paid £200 for my opening stock and then did not receive any orders. I was very stressed, thinking I made a mistake and wasted my time and money.

“When my videos started going viral, I got so many followers who became customers. Suddenly I was getting so many orders, it was amazing.

“For anyone who wants to take a risk starting a business, I would say do it. If you want to do it, work hard and you’ll get what you want.”

Tisha decided to start her business in 2020 and ordered £200 worth of stock from Amazon to allow her to make personalized bracelets and necklaces. She was postponed for a position at the university and decided to take a year’s hiatus to expand the business.

Using YouTube videos, she learned how to engrave pictures and letters, initially using a stamp and a hammer to mark the shapes on the ornaments.

But he didn’t receive a single order for five months – and he began to fear that he had made a mistake. She said: “In those five months, I got nothing. I was under a lot of stress.”

She opted to pay for marketing in favor of promoting the brand on TikTok and Instagram – and soon she noticed sales flooding in as her videos went viral. Her shop now offers a wide variety of handmade jewelery and accessories for under £20.

Now, with Tisha’s account – chikaag_bebright1 – having 76,000 followers on TikTok and 4 million likes overall, she just finished her best business month yet – for £13,500 and over 600 orders in May.

The businesswoman bought an engraving machine when the business started, although she continues to operate a lamp from her bedroom in her family’s home. She said: “Honestly, it’s so hard to make them all!

“I’m getting about 12 orders a day and I’m spending up to seven hours creating, packaging and shipping orders.”

She’s set her sights very high – and after a two-year delay is finally planning on going to university this year.

Tisha will be studying Information Management for Business at UCL from September, which she plans to do while running her own business. But she has no plans to show and she shows true entrepreneurial spirit as she believes her goal is to make Chicago a six-digit business.

She said: “I think I’ll be hiring an accountant soon – I want to grow more. When I’ve finished my degree I want to try to open a physical store.

“I don’t know how I’ll do it but I’ll do it.”

Looking back on how much progress she’s made, she said: “I’m really proud that I took the risk. I feel great at what I’ve achieved.” Visit Tisha’s Website www.chikaag.com,
