Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most followed teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although they have never won a competition, the franchise has a loyal fan base that always supports the team.
The Bangalore-based franchise is home to some of the best batsmen in the world. Virat KohliAB de Villiers, Chris Gayle., Rahul Dravid, Jack Kells, Shane Watson, Yuvraj Singh and many others. However, in previous editions of the IPL, fans have seen the RCB bowling unit beat the team.
Many batsmen have enjoyed playing against RCB in the IPL.
One of the main reasons for the RCB’s struggle in bowling attack is that the team plays its home matches at the M Channa Swamy Stadium in Batting Paradise.
Many batsmen of the visiting teams like to play against the Bangalore franchise, and the following five batsmen improve significantly when they play against RCB in the IPL.
1. Andre Russell
Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell has played several match-winning innings against RCB in the IPL. No RCB fan can ever forget Russell’s innings of 48 * off 13 balls and 65 * off 25 balls against Bangalore in IPL 2019.
The Caribbean star has scored 370 runs against RCB at an average of 46.25. His strike rate is 215.11 while Russell has hit 25 fours and 35 sixes in just 11 innings.
2. Caron Pollard.
Another West Indian star on the list is Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard. The right-handed batsman has played 23 innings against RCB, scoring 544 runs at an average of 38.85.
Pollard’s strike rate increased from 150.87 to 164.84 when he played against Bangalore. He has scored three half-centuries against RCB, and so far in his IPL career, Pollard has hit 41 fours and 32 sixes against the Royal Challengers.
3. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya made his IPL debut in 2015 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The all-rounder made a brilliant 16-run comeo off six balls in his first IPL innings.
Since then, Pandya has played 12 games against RCB, scoring 230 runs at a strike rate of 163.12. Interestingly, he was unbeaten seven times in 12 innings. Playing against the Bangalore franchise, Pandya’s batting average increased from 27.47 to 46.
4. David Warner.
David Warner has been the most consistent performer against RCB in the history of the IPL. The left-handed batsman played 19 innings against Bangalore and scored 754 runs at a strike rate of 160.42.
Most notably, Warner formed a record opening partnership of 185 against RCB in 2019 with Johnny Bairstow.
5. KL Rahul
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore star KL Rahul has enjoyed playing against his former IPL team since his release. Rahul has scored 462 runs in nine innings against the Bangalore franchise at an impressive average of 92.46.
The Punjab Kings captain played a brilliant 132-run innings against RCB in the UAE last year. Rahul will look forward to playing a similar innings against Bangalore on October 3.
