Speaking about Birmingham, Logan shared: “When I heard that Birmingham was hosting, I thought it was a great opportunity for the region to show what it has achieved. It’s such a great dynamic because it’s such a cultural mix and it’s perfect for the Commonwealth.

“Athletics are in great Caribbean countries and cricket brings in India or Pakistan. It is called a friendly city and there is a great sense of humor in people, people are accessible.”

Logan will cover athletics most of the evening from 6 to 7 pm and in the morning sessions at Alexander Stadium, a place he calls world class. He went on to say: “Go and see Alexander Stadium, it is world class and now it looks amazing it has been renovated. Secondly, look at the library, it is beautiful.

The Commonwealth Games are unique in that they have a history of friendly sports. They are hosted in countries that will not host the Olympics and have a more unique personality than the capital cities. Yes, that’s right you can now become known as a Lord of the Rings. “
