Enrique & Lopetegui from Man Utd running

Manchester United’s attempt to secure a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has received a real blow after both Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui was sentenced.

What’s the story?

The Spanish couple were thought to be part of a comprehensive list of managerial goals being considered by the Old Trafford hierarchy, but it looks as if they will now need to turn their attention to alternative goals.

According to a well-known journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, neither Enrique nor Lopetegui are interested in joining United, with both men focused on their current positions.

I tweeted: “Luis Enrique will not be involved in any conversation with Manchester United. He is only planning for the World Cup with Spain and he will not change. #MUFC Sevilla coach Jules Lopetegui also denied Man Utd a job opportunity: “It seems absurd to me”.

Man Utd fans will be selected

News that both the Spanish national team manager and the Sevilla manager are not interested in taking responsibility for the red devils will leave large parts of the club’s fan base injured.

Enrique and Lopetegui have cultivated an enviable reputation as highly regarded tacticians for their impressive work in their home country, but Manchester’s allure is not what it once was.

Who should Man Utd appoint?

The duo joins the Ajax boss Erik tio hag in leaving the race to become Solsskjaer’s successor, with the whole affair threatening to turn into a rather embarrassing circus for Glazers and co.

It was recently reported by ESPN that United have been given an initial approach rejected by Paris Saint-Germain when they try to reward Mauricio Pochettino away from the French capital, which means that an interim manager is now likely to take over the reins.

Several exciting candidates such as Ralf Rangnick, Ernesto Valverde and Rudi Garcia have appeared as favorites for that particular role, but that approach is unlikely to appeal to supporters.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, the 20-time English champions have gone through six temporary and permanent managers. The time for stability and long-term planning has now come.

Therefore, Romano’s latest revelation regarding Enrique and Lopetegui will be a great disappointment to all those associated with United, and they will hope for a quick solution to their managerial problems.
