Franco extends the series of rays, coming out with a leg injury.

Detroit (AP) – Tampa Bay Rays vendor Vander Franco extended his base streak to 39 games, then was knocked out in the first inning against Detroit on Friday night with a seeming leg injury.

With one out in the first, Franco lined up a single. Nelson Cruz then doubled, but Franco came in third. After scrutiny by the team coaches, Franco left the game and was replaced by Joey Wendell at the short stop.

Franco AL, 20, came into the game with seven homers in 61 games for the Eastern leaders, hitting .282.

Franco’s Twenty20 streak by a player under 21 is the longest in the history of the major leagues.
