Greenke beat Estros 3-1. Rangers lost 12th straight

Houston (AP) – Zack Greenk threw six solid innings, Abraham Toro turned around and the Houston Astros beat the Rangers 3-1 on Sunday to take the Texas Quas to their 12th loss.

The Rangers’ squad is the second-longest in the team’s history and has dropped by a dozen for the first time since 1982. Texas has a record 15 straight losses in September 1972, then moved to Washington in the team’s first season under manager Ted Williams.

The Rangers’ 0-10 road trip was the worst in the team’s history. Texas went 0-9 between May 25 and June 3 at the start of the season.

Greenke (10-3) scored one run on five hits with four strikeouts. The right-hander, who retired 13 of 14 batsmen at a time, has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last seven starts.

Christian Xavier hit two fine innings, and Ryan Press scored the ninth for his 18th save.

Toro gave the Astros a 2-1 lead in the fifth with a two-run homer with Distri Santana (0-1).

Kyle Tucker took a 3-1 lead over RBI singles in the sixth.

Elliott outscored Solo Home by 1-0 in the fifth, giving the Rangers their first lead since taking a 2-0 lead over Auckland at the end of the first innings on July 10.

Toro’s home run at the bottom of the innings shortened the lead and Texas did not lead after a franchise record of 104 innings.

Texas struggled at number seven, but Xavier dismissed White and held Houston to a 3-1 lead in the final double game at the hands of Asia Coiner Falfa.

Taylor Horn made his second start of the season for the Rangers and played more than three hitless innings.

Trainer’s room

Astros: The LHP Brooks Rally (Health and Safety Protocol) was removed from the list of injured on Sunday, and C. Garrett Stubbs was given the option of Triple-A Sugar Land. To make room on the 40-man roster, Astros nominated LHP Ryan Hartmann for assignment. بی 3B Alex Bragman (left quadriceps in tension) will begin rehabilitation assignment with Sugar Land on Monday.

Holt, Woodward’s revelation

Rangers 3B Brooke Holt and manager Chris Woodward were fired by home plate umpire Tim Timmons after a debate over a third strike at number five.
