Iceland, Morrisons and Waitrose warn shoppers not to eat prawns or curries

Many popular supermarkets are recalling many products for safety reasons. Morrisons, Waitrose, Iceland and Spar have each received safety warnings about certain food products.

When a product is recalled, for whatever reason, the Food Safety Agency (FSA) shares details about what you should do if you purchased the item, as well as detailed information about this. why the product is being pulled from the shelves, Echo reports.

Several products have been recalled in recent weeks, some of which have been used up to date as far back as January 2024. Some products may carry a risk of food poisoning, while others may contain fragments of glass. With that in mind, it may be worth checking your kitchen cupboards, fridge, and freezer to see if you have any. Here are some of the latest product recalls from Morrisons, Waitrose, Iceland, and Spur.

Morrison

Morrisons is recalling certain batches of Breaded Chicken products because of a risk that some packs may contain small pieces of glass. The supermarket said: “Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We do not require a receipt.

“No other products are affected by this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and assure customers of our continued commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”

Affected batch:

  • Morrisons Breaded Chicken Gaujon 270g – Use by 20th and 21st June
  • Morrisons Breaded Chicken Goujon 650g – Use by 20th and 21st June
  • Morrisons Breaded Chicken Nuggets 260g – Use by June 19
  • Morrisons Breaded Chicken Platter 600g – Use by June 19
  • Morrisons Breaded Chicken Steaks 500g – Use by June 19

Morrison also said that Alpro UK Ltd. is withdrawing part of a batch of Alpro rice drink because it contains oats (gluten), which is not mentioned on the label. This means that the product is a potential health risk for anyone with allergies or intolerances to oats or gluten.

Waitrose

Waitrose is recalling Waitrose Frozen Cooked & Peeled Jumbo King Prawns and Essential Frozen Cooked King Prawns. The possible presence of uncooked prawns makes this product unsafe to eat.

  • Essential Frozen Cooked King Prawns 250g – Use By Date June 2023 – Batch VN394

The FSA advises that if you have purchased any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store they were purchased from for a full refund.

Iceland

Iceland continues to recall its takeaway chicken roast because it contains milk that is not declared on the label. As a result of a packaging error, some packs may contain Iceland Takeaway Creamy Butter Chicken.

This means that the product is a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk components. Affected packs will be the best before the date of January 26, 2024.
