Kay Adams and Richie Anderson are the latest celebrities confirmed to be on Dancing with the Stars 2022.
The Loose Women star, 59, announced her participation during Friday’s episode of the ITV afternoon show, while TV and radio presenter Anderson, 34, was introduced earlier in the day during Zoe Ball’s Breakfast show.
They will join previously announced stars in the line-up, Coronation Street actors Will Mellor and Kim Marsh.
Adams said she signed up for the dance competition as she wants the last year of her 50th birthday to be “memorable”.
In a statement following the announcement, the Scottish broadcaster said: “I said I want to make the last year of my 50th birthday memorable and I can’t think of a better way to do it than to show the world my two left feet.” Pray for me.”
Her Loose Women bandmates were in disbelief after she broke the news, with Denise Welch trying to calm her down by saying, “I did Dancing on Ice and it’s terrible, but it’s a great experience.”
Adams admitted that she was “absolutely scared” and admitted that she “can’t dance at all”.
But despite her nerves, she said she wanted to take the opportunity, adding, “I can’t make myself much (more) a fool than I am.”
Adams also hosts the morning show on BBC Radio Scotland and has presented programs on various channels including STV and the BBC, and was previously a member of the Channel 5 morning show The Wright Stuff.
Meanwhile, Anderson said it’s “a huge honor” to dance in the men’s partnership on Strictly.
He said, “This is a dream come true. I can’t wait to put on these sequins and glide across the most famous dance floor in the world. Strictly is the ultimate feel-good show – as soon as I hear this iconic tune, it’s just pure escapism.
“I will have to cancel my legendary Strict Launch Kitchen Party every year. I am sure that my friends and family will understand me.
“It’s also a huge honor to be part of an all-male dance partnership – it’s so important that we have this inclusion on such a massive show.”
Anderson is a regular contributor to the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show, presenting travel bulletins, and also hosts many programs himself.
He was a regular presenter on The One Show and featured in BBC One’s Platinum Anniversary coverage earlier this year.
Sightly features two same-sex couples so far, with boxer Nicola Adams and Katja Jones dancing together in 2020, while Bake Off’s Johannes Radebe and John Waite made it to the final last year.
Former pop star Marsh and ‘Two pints of lager and a bag of chips’ actor Mellor, 46, were featured at Thursday’s BBC breakfast.
Marsh rose to prominence in the band Hear’Say, which was formed as part of the ITV show Popstars in 2001, before venturing into acting and playing Michelle Connor in Coronation Street.
She now co-presents Morning Live with Gethin Jones and recently appeared in the touring theater play Fatal Attraction.
Mellor said that Strictly is his mother Shirley’s favorite show and that after his father’s death in 2020 from cancer, he wants to create new memories.
Four new professional dancers will appear on the new series Strictly, creating the largest line-up in the show’s history.
This came after two-time winner Oti Mabuse and Alyaz Skoryanets announced their retirement.
The last series was won by Rose Ayling-Ellis with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
For the upcoming 20th series, viewers will return to the studio, with the kickoff show recording scheduled for September 7th.
