Loans, New Signatures, Carney Chuckwemica – Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa in Tray – Ashley Press

Steven Gerrard continues to emphasize the importance of the “really strong” pre-season as he prepares for his first full season in charge of Austin Villa in the Premier League. The head coach inherited Dan Smith’s squad eight months ago and was rapidly improving in January. Gerard did it again this summer, removing the permanent additions of Robin Olson, Diego Carlos, Bobaker Kumara and, of course, Philippe Coutinho.

Here, Birmingham Live checks out what’s in Gerard’s tray when the boss returns to work at Bodymoor Heath next week. You can give your opinion in the comments section here.

Trim the fat.

Villa currently has 33 first-team players who are out of debt last season after eight comebacks in their books. Gerard would try to trim the fat, as it were. Winger Trezeguet is in talks with Trabzonspor in Turkey for a m 3million deal, while Anwar al-Ghazi and Lovre Kalinic are free to find new clubs. Brazilian striker Wesley will be on loan at the International SC until the new year, while Frederick Gilbert’s future looks bleak away from Villa Park, knowing that Gerard Ken Kessler is keen to promote Hayden. Villa, meanwhile, is ready to listen to offers for Canon Davis after his successful run at Nottingham Forest. With Jaden Philogene-Bidace, Davis will have the opportunity to impress Gerard during the pre-season before deciding on his future. The manager will also need to iron out the future of Bertrand Trevor and Morgan Sunson as they lacked match action last season. Birmingham Live believes both players are happy at the villa. Leon Bailey, meanwhile, will be given every chance to crack after being under the influence of the first season at Villa Park.

Strengthen the group.

A few more player sales will allow Villa to move more freely into the transfer market as they try to replenish and refine their play squad. As reported, a new left-back, elite-level midfielder and an experienced center-forward are still on Gerard’s radar. The manager is eager to compete for places next season and wants his squad to fight to start shirts every week, which has not been the case for a long time. Sporting Director Johan Lange is currently working with Gerard and the recruitment team to identify high-performance targets for key positions.

Agreements

Now two players come under this header and they are Carney Chowkemika and Douglas Louise, the former U-19 European Championship champions while the latter are taking serious interest from AC Milan. Gerard emphasized how the club had “done it all” to get 18-year-old Chikuwemika to sign new terms. The midfielder will use the summer championship with England as a springboard in which big, big clubs are spinning, provided he has only 12 months left on his current contract.

As far as Douglas Luiz is concerned, Gerard has always been soft on the situation in Brazil. The 24-year-old has won 111 games at Villa Park in just three seasons, highlighting his importance. With the addition of Camara as Villa’s new defensive midfielder, it is hoped that Douglas can make a real statement in the next period, playing at his preferred No. 8 position. However, the future of the former Man City man needs to be clarified. Despite Douglas’s declining contract, it is still worth up to 30 million. Will Villa Cash look to do this or, conversely, is there going to be a new deal?

Elsewhere, Gerrard is expected to make a final decision on Ashley Young next week. The young man, who will turn 37 in July, has been offered a new 12-month contract.

The character of Kirchli

As Amy Martinez pointed out in an interview with Ben Foster, the importance of Michael Bell in Bodymore Heath was second to none. Bell has since moved on to head QPR, and Gerard has worked hard to bring Neil Kirchley out of his role as black pool manager. Already playing a managerial role, Kirchley is fully expected to reach the space left by the influential bull. That should be without hindrance, when it was time to go to bed and seal the club, Gerard will play another role after Bell’s departure next season.

Debt decisions

Gerard will be the next possible lender on the White Board. A big question mark will be with the name of Cameron Archer, which will not decide on the transfer of the loan or the decision to be really late in the window. Tim Aerogbnam has been presented with another borrowing initiative but Birmingham Live has been told he is not currently on the agenda, which is expected to guide 18-year-old Kumara through new additions. Courtney House could be given a loan knowing that Gerard will have five center-backs when Ezri returns from injury, while at the academy, Aaron Ramsey, Louis Berry and Ben Cressin are all expected to make the EFL loan. Will get deals. Senior centerback Josh Fanny, 17, will be placed in the first-team group on a permanent basis with a loan deal in January. The same thing will happen to 16-year-old Rory Wilson, who will transfer £ 300,000 from a Rangers officer next week. Also, depending on whether Villa is really busy bringing in new players, loans may also be available for first-team players Sanson and Trevor.

Appoint a captain.

This came back in April when Gerard outlined that he would continue to review Aston Villa’s captaincy before naming his full-time captain before the start of the 2022/23 season. Tyrone Mangs will be the favorite to retain the captain’s arm band, but Birmingham Live has been told that John McGann is a strong contender, while other options will be considered.

Strong start to the season

Villa will have six games before the transfer deadline and it is important to make a good start. Villa’s first three matches – Bournemouth, Everton and Palace – look kind before the second round tie in the Carabao Cup. Then there are West Ham and Arsenal, the two sides who took six points from Villa last season as Gerard’s men struggled against their opponents at the table. Villa will have to beat a few so-called ‘big boys’ this coming season. Big results will inject some much needed momentum as Gerard Villa will try to make a much stronger and more permanent team in 2022/23.
