Clyde Rovers GAA

Golf Classic – Last Monday night the 26th Annual Clyde Rovers GAA Golf Classic was launched at Murphy’s Bar Morenabe.

The Classic will take place over two days Thursday and Friday, July 14 and July 15 at Mallow Golf Club. This year again the main sponsors of the Classic will be Derry and Doreen Murphy.

The club’s launch chairperson – Jeremiah Ronayne – commented: ‘It’s hard to believe that this is our 26th year of one of the highlights of the club year.

The money raised at Classic has been very useful to the club over the years.

“As well as supporting our players and teams, we have started some much-needed capital projects with money in the past,” Jeremiah said.

Jeremiah concluded his speech by saying that ‘without the sponsorship of the people and businesses of Mornabe and the people of the local hinterland of Mallow, we would not have been able to make such an investment.’

Golf Classic organizer John Roche then spoke and paid a special tribute to Derry and Doreen Murphy for their continued sponsorship. ‘Derry and Doreen deliver top class awards and it really adds to the success of our classic’ he commented.

John concluded by saying ‘In the last two years when we’ve run the Classic at such a difficult time with the pandemic, we’ve never had as much support. For the 26th year, we are looking forward to making it the best year ever with record teams and tee boxes, good weather and a great golf course to play in Mallow.
