Cahirmi Fair

With the lifting of COVID-19-restrictions and a return to some form of normal life, the annual Cahirami Fair returned to the streets of Butevent this year. Last Tuesday, July 12, the fair was in full swing, and there was some gathering of people and their animals about three or four days before the actual event.

Merchants, dealers, visitors and the general public visit the fair, which has been taking place for centuries, and is part of local folklore and history. It is also a great occasion when friendships, renewed, and memories, are rekindled, and migrants, on holidays, return home for the occasion.

This year, general public numbers appeared to be minimal compared to previous years, even though there is an abundance of horse animals available. Before the day of the fair, there was also a good deal of sales. Perhaps people were a little apprehensive, with the presence, covid is still prevalent. Undoubtedly, fair attendance will return to previous numbers in the years to come.
