England will play Germany in the Euro 2022 final at Wembley on Sunday.
Germany have won 21 of 27 meetings between the teams, including the 2009 European Championship final, but Sarina Wigman’s England team won the last meeting earlier this year.
Here, the PA news agency looks back at the last five meetings between the parties.
Germany 2 England 1 (March 2016)
England were desperately unlucky to lose after taking an early lead in the SheBelieves Cup in Nashville.
The Lionesses took the lead at half-time thanks to a ninth-minute Tony Duggan header from Alex Greenwood’s cross.
But Germany equalized when England defender Gilly Flaherty scored a botched own goal and then Farah Williams converted a hard penalty in her 150th game, which was converted by Babette Peter.
Germany 1 England 0 (March 2017)
Mark Sampson’s team suffered a small defeat at the SheBelieves Cup in Washington.
Anja Mittag scored the game-winner shortly before half-time with a 12-yard goal.
Jordan Nobbs, Demi Stokes and Jill Scott all had chances to equalize in a frenetic second half, but European champions Germany held on.
England 2 Germany 2 (March 2018)
White scored a brace as England drew twice at the SheBelieves Cup in Phil Neville’s second match at the helm.
In New York, they trailed Hasret Kayikci’s first shot before White equalized after the ball bounced off her.
Millie Bright’s own goal put Germany back in the lead before Ellen White’s breakaway goal secured a powerful draw.
England 1 Germany 2 (November 2019)
Late winner Clara Buhl ensured that Germany would spoil the party in front of a record crowd of 77,768 at Wembley.
White moved up to England level after Alexandra Popp hit her first leg header in the eighth minute.
But Buhl’s close shot beat Mary Earps in the 90th minute and doomed Neville’s team to a fifth defeat in seven games.
England 3 Germany 1 (February 2022)
England lifted the Arnold Clarke Cup after Bright’s late goals, and Fran Kirby secured the win at Molineux.
The Liones took the lead as record-holder White scored her 49th England goal before Germany hit back before half-time with a Lina Magull free-kick.
Bright put the hosts back in the lead with six minutes left, landing a shot after Lauren Hemp’s shot was blocked and Kirby sealed the win in stoppage time.
