Slimming World Slimmer drops 12 stones, reverses diabetes and gives hands a blue badge

When Hilary Sard was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes by her GP, she was given a major choice – lose the weight or start taking medication. The finance system analyst was so desperate to avoid taking drugs to control her condition that she signed up to Slimming World the same day.

Within a week she was 13lbs lighter and when she returned to her GP for her deadline two months later she was “obviously shocked” by the difference in her appearance and health. Now, after downing 12 stones, the 57-year-old has not only reversed his diabetes, but has returned his disabled blue badge as the rest of his health has changed.

Hilary of Croydon said: “I’ve reduced my 8 dress size from a 34 to a size 16, and now buying clothes is much easier, especially since my friend Angelica took me shopping. Her careful guidance I went to high street stores I’d never dared to enter before.

“She guided me away from baggy drab options that were too big for me and helped me consider beautifully cut trousers and curvy colored dresses. Since losing the weight, I’ve had a lot of energy.

“From struggling to walk from my car to the supermarket to taking the 2-minute walk to the corner store, I now easily walk 15K steps a day and choose to walk the places I drive I’ve also taken an allotment and am able to enjoy plenty of grown products like asparagus, broad beans and strawberries in my Slimming World meal.

“I have stopped taking most of my medicines and have given my blue badge back because I no longer need it. I am very outgoing, I have a new zest for life and I am single for the past 7 years looking forward to find a new relationship as I am very self conscious about my weight. Losing weight has given me a lot of confidence and I think my future is bright.

“I went straight home and googled for weight loss services and Slimming World came up. I saw I had a group that evening and I thought if I didn’t do it today, I’m never going to do it. ” Hillary says.
