Smith, Taylor Power Shorthand Dodgers Past Rockies, 3-2

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Will Smith took the lead in the eighth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 3-2 on Sunday.

Chris Taylor added a pair of home runs and the Shorthand Dodgers won the game against the Rockies by just four runs in a row.

Smith broke the tie at home run-to-left center with a single in the eighth against right-hander Carlos Estevez (2-2). It was his 14th home run of the season and his third at home in seven games.

Taylor scored home runs in the first and fifth innings and 16 runs in the season. Phil Beckford (1-1) played an unbeaten innings for victory, and Joe Kelly scored the ninth inning for his first save.

Rockies right-hander John Gray competed with Dodgers rookie right-hander Josiah Gray, nor was he involved in the decision.

Elias Diaz targeted a house run for Rockies and Trevor Story. The Rockies won the series opener on Friday but have won less than 10 MLBs this season.

Taylor ended the game with a home run by the Dodgers, but a temporary line-up was blocked. Josiah Gray had two hits in his first career, giving up three hits in four innings with four innings and six strikeouts.

The Dodgers did not have either Moki Bates (hip) or Cody Bellinger (hamstring) in the starting lineup. Corey Seger (hand) is out of May.

The Rockies began the conversation with Josiah Gray, led by Rimmel Tapia, who stole the second base. Tapia scored in Story’s two outs single to center field.
