The white-clad man can be seen through large windows pointing a gun at someone’s head as he kneels down, before dragging the man into a different area of the unit, apparently a roadside Shown in footage from the building.
After a while, several loud flash bangs can be heard as the man runs into another room.
As the blasts continued, the man was seen being recaptured and Swat team officers surrounded the area and opened fire.
An LAPD spokesman told the newspaper that an officer shot the suspect, who was hospitalized in an unknown condition. The hostage was alive and no officer was injured.
It is not clear what caused the incident, but police responded to the shooting in the area at 4:10 a.m., an hour and a half before the stop.
The incident took place eight blocks from the hostage situation on Wednesday night, where police shot a woman who came out of a tent holding a man at gunpoint. KTLA reported..
