A South Korean broadcaster has apologized for using “inappropriate” images and captions to represent some of the countries participating in the Tokyo Olympics – including a picture of Chernobyl for Ukraine and pizza for Italy.

“Some inappropriate images and captions were used to introduce the stories,” the Minhwa Broadcasting Corporation, the official network said in a statement.
“We apologize to those countries, including Ukraine and our audience,” he said.
Players from other nations were shown with more subtle – and sometimes weird – pictures and information.
For example, Britain’s entry into the arena included a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while El Salvador, where the cryptocurrency is a legal tender, was presented with a bitcoin symbol.
