Twice Wade Homer, the Giants bounced back to beat the Pirates 6-1

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Lemont Wade Jr. has been home twice and the San Francisco Giants avoided a sweep in three games by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1 on Sunday.

Wyler Flores and Thiro Estrada also went deeper into San Francisco. The Giants advanced to their best of 62-77 and maintained their slim lead over the Dodgers in the NL West in a series between two division rivals at Oracle Park this week.

Alex Wood (-3- eight) scored eight runs and entered the break to help San Francisco bounce, a day after the Giants lost 10-2 in a hard-fought defeat this season.

Brian Reynolds made two wins for the Pirates and scored.

Wade’s first home run came on the fifth pitch of Pittsburgh starter JT Brobaker and tied the game 1-1.

Wade later sent a drive to the right center stands for a multi-home run in his first career. That too double.

Flores dropped out of Dwayne Underwood Jr. at number six. Steven Dogar followed with a double and finished third with a throw by Pirates catcher Jacob Stallings. Kurt Kesali’s RBI single made it 5-0.

Estrada went home in the eighth.

Wood allowed one run and five hits in 5/3 innings, pitching around most of the afternoon traffic to beat Pittsburgh for the second time this season.

The pirates filled the bases with a base in the sixth to chase Wood but failed to score. Reliever Jay Jackson joins Kevin Newman in doubles.

Jarlin Garcia, Tyler Rogers and Jack McGee retired three batsmen to complete three hits.

Broebaker (4-10) scored two runs and three hits in six innings with six strikeouts. Brobaker has been the winner since May 29.

Additional foundations

He also scored a seed of home run against the Cabs on June 6; the Pirates have hit at least one extra base in 21 consecutive matches this season. * Pittsburgh has won 16 of its last 23 games in San Francisco.
