A Birmingham Alabama University soccer player has been charged with strangling his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her if she told police, officials said.

Jones, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound Mississippi man, was taken into custody after 21-year-old Blount County was arrested, according to one incident report, for suffocating, hitting and throwing him on the floor last month. Retrieved from AL.com..
He told investigators that Jones kicked the woman in the head while wearing shoes and hit her with a pillow. According to the report, the former Hulking Lineman also said that he beat his dogs so badly that they could not move.
In an alleged attack, Jones threw a kitchen knife at the woman, causing the weapon to get stuck in her left leg.

The deputies said the woman needed eight stitches to close her wound.
Jones’ former flame received temporary protection from an abuse order against him on Wednesday. A hearing on the matter is set for later this month, according to AL.com.
Jones, a red-shirt junior who played two games for the Blazers last season, had his team’s bio shows according to a trailer.
A spokesman for the UAB Athletics Department told The Post in a statement that the university was aware of Jones’ arrest and had suspended him as the investigation continued.
“Of course we take this news very seriously,” said Ted Felly, associate director of communications. “We will review it and take any appropriate action.”
Philly said Jones had already been ruled out for the season after breaking his leg during fall camp.
