It’s almost as if the recruitment and retention culture has really shifted in the direction of leadership and company culture after the closure. With all the posts, videos, and articles revolving around core values and how important they are, I wanted to take this opportunity to share what core values are, why they should be an integral part of your company culture and how they should be. What are the original prices?
Simply put, core values are your company’s shield against itself. They are the set of intrinsic values that determine the barometer of the entire team within the organization. These values should begin with the leadership team and be a direct representation of the values that each leadership team member lives in. This will set and maintain a standard of behavior for the entire team as the company grows. Generally speaking, a company wants 3-7 clearly defined and actionable core values to be documented. You want them to be easy to understand, difficult to manipulate, and to be remembered by a team member of any level.
Remember, keep it simple, but keep it impressive. it’s important. As the company grows and expands, it will continue to rely on these values to set the tone when challenges arise. Use your own life as an example of where to come up with these values. Some questions you can ask yourself are: What is most important to you every day? Some non-negotiable What do you live with? What assets do you see in others that inspire you to be better? You can use these as a starting point for brainstorming your value system within your organization.
As you progress, your business will hit obstacles. When that happens, there will be moments when the whole team needs something to rely on to move forward, and these are the most important moments that will come into play.
Examples of company core values include:

You can use single words, or you can choose phrases. Once you’ve selected them, you’ll want to write a mini blurb about the value. Give insight and examples of where this would apply inside your organization, and give your team some ideas to think about. For each value, you want to set it up in a way that’s appealing to everyone involved, so they’ll adopt that way of thinking and operating. Core Values are truly a win-win scenario for the team, customers and you as the owner or leader.

How to implement your core values
Next, you’re going to set it in motion inside your team meeting. The most practical and efficient way to implement a value structure that sticks is to give constant reminders. Choose specific meetings each week that can open with core values. You can ask people to read them, you can ask for example how they were implemented weeks ago, or you can simply ask if anyone else has seen live values. This creates a buy-in that shows the team that you are serious, and they will be rewarded and recognized for staying within the value system the company now relies on.
Implementing core values on a company-wide level starts with you. You have to take these values more seriously than anyone else. You must implement them on a daily basis, talk about them, and hold yourself accountable to these core values, even if they sting. It is incredibly important that you do not show that these are not important enough for you to apply. And when you stumble, it’s extremely important that you own it, acknowledge it, and tell your team how you’ll do better.
It can be hard for a company that hasn’t defined its core values to see real ROI in establishing and implementing them, but when I tell you it’s everlasting, and it’s grand, it’s on me. Believe me. People thrive on great leadership, and all great leadership begins with a set of unwavering values for the greater good of the team.
