Virtual currencies may have been taking a beating as of late, but the virtual world is alive and well – and even the stock markets are starting to participate.

While there are a plethora of companies operating in and around the metaverse, bringing Nasdaq’s opening ceremony to a virtual world is a sure sign, it’s still going to be too soon for investors to start paying attention to all things serious. Given that the Metaverse’s A. expected to grow $500 billion market by 2028Businesses would be wise to prepare for this and figure out how they can use it to their advantage, says Kathy Hackl, Journey’s cofounder and chief Metaverse officer.
“The brands we are working with are first-movers, and want to remain culturally relevant,” Hackl says. Nasdaq Opening of Core Metaverse. And while words like “metaverse” are becoming more common, many people still aren’t sure what it means—Haeckel admits it’s still an evolving concept.
“The metaverse, the virtual world — everyone has their own terminology at this point,” she says. “The metaverse isn’t really here yet. We’re moving towards it,” she says, adding that perhaps the easiest way to understand it, and what companies like Journey do, is to consider that not just the physical world but the virtual world itself. You can think about the metaverse, and how we’ll interact with it, she says, by trying to imagine “what comes after the smartphone,” wearing a wearable. lol and allow for virtual reality, and much more.
For companies like Journey that are actively rolling out virtual offices across multiple metaverses, and which will follow suit, it’s reasonable to wonder what benefits a non-physical workspace brings to the table. There is no clear, precise answer. But Hackl says that Journey’s “office” in the Fortnite creative metaverse takes the form of a giant yacht. These workspaces can be anything and everything in a virtual space, allowing for limitless creativity.
“There are no building codes or laws of physics,” Hackl says. “It’s about having fun and being creative.”
